Concert and Dessert in Del Ray - 2/28

Join us for a family- friendly concert by the band Lost and Found on their farewell tour!

The Christian band, Lost And Found (www.speedwood.com), has embarked on their farewell concert tour after over 29 years of bringing their interactive musical style, dubbed “speedwood,” to audiences across the country. They will be playing a concert at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (100 W. Luray Ave.) in Alexandria, Virginia, on Saturday, February 28 at 6 p.m. Admission is $5/person or max of $25/family. Donations of nonperishable food items to support the Hunger Free Alexandria initiative will also be received. A dessert reception will follow the show. For more information visit the website: www.gslutheran.net.

Lost And Found concerts can feel like a gathering of friends in your living room as Michael Bridges and George Baum enter into conversation with the audience through their music and dialogue, sharing stories of their lives and travels along with their songs. There is a sense of welcome for all ages. “The lyrics to their songs really reach your heart with their clear messages of hope, love, and community,” comments one concert goer, Denise Steene, who has been enjoying the music of Lost And Found since 1994.

Lost And Found had its humble beginning in 1986 as two guys on bicycles making their first concert tour across America with no support vehicles and only what they could carry. On that first journey, Michael and George brought their music to churches, youth gatherings, colleges, and camps from New York to St. Louis, Miami to San Diego to Seattle and back to New York at 270 concerts in 340 days, selling vinyl albums that were strapped to their bikes as a way of sustaining themselves. Lost And Found didn’t set out to make music as a living, it just happened as friends they had met across the country kept inviting them back to play more of their music. In the past years Michael and George have grown to accept this ministry and mission and in 1991 began touring full time. They continue to write song lyrics that comment on life, faith, travel, friends, and relationships. Their music is organic and fun with catchy tunes that communicate a lot in under three minutes. With over 90 songs to their credit, the band has touched on subjects from the hidden pains people endure to the hope that can be found in receiving God’s grace. The band recently was crowned the 2014 winner of the John Lennon Songwriting contest in the Gospel category for their song “Rise Up” (http://jlsc.com/winners/2014a/winners.php).
