ALEXANDRIA, VA — Early voting for the June 21 8th congressional district Democratic primary will conclude Saturday in Alexandria. This is the only 2022 primary race in the City of Alexandria.

Rep. Don Beyer is seeking a fifth term as the representative for the 8th congressional district, which includes the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, City of Falls Church and part of Fairfax County. The primary challenger is Victoria Virasingh, a former technology industry employee.

Because the district is largely blue, it is likely the winner of the Democratic primary will secure a win in the November general election. Republicans have already chosen Karina Lipsman, a refugee from Ukraine who became a U.S. citizen, as the candidate to face the Democratic primary winner in the general election.
