FBI: Bank Robber Suspect Had 'Hoax Bomb'
The suspect left the device behind and fled on foot Monday afternoon after robbing the Burke & Herbert Bank in Del Ray.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The FBI said Tuesday that the suspect who robbed a Del Ray bank Monday presented a “hoax bomb” that he left behind after robbing the bank.

On Monday, at approximately 2:25 p.m., the FBI said a black male robbed the Burke & Herbert Bank located at 306 E. Monroe St. in Alexandria.
The subject entered the bank, approached a victim teller and presented a demand note along with a hoax bomb and robbed the bank, the FBI said. The subject left the device and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The man is described as being in his 50s, 6’ tall and heavyset; he was wearing a black puffy jacket and a gray hat.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this bank robber.
