ICYMI: Vintage Clothing Store Closing in Del Ray

Amalgamated Classic Clothing and Dry Goods will be closing its doors in Del Ray on Dec. 27, owner Shelley White said Thursday afternoon.

The vintage clothing store, which has been located in Del Ray at 1904 Mt. Vernon Ave., the past four years, works mainly with TV and film production companies, fulfilling their needs for period productions.

White just got finished working with the production team for legendary film director Woody Allen’s next film, White said. The ensemble cast includes Steve Carell, Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg and Blake Lively.

White also provided wardrobes for “Bright Star,”the musical starring Steve Martin and Edie Brickell that is at the Kennedy Center through Jan. 10. The musical will debut on Broadway in March.

Amalgamated will be increasing its business with TV and film production when it moves into a larger space, about 3,500 square feet, in North Arlington off of Lee Highway near N. George Mason Drive, White said.

Once the new space is ready, plans are to be up and running at the new location within about six weeks, she said.
