Marino's Takeout Pizza Revives Plan to Add Eat-In Dining
Public hearing before Planning Commission is Dec. 2.

Marino’s Pizza & Subs, located at 3100 Jefferson Davis Highway, has revived a plan to add eat-in dining to its take-out establishment, according to plans filed with the City.
Marino’s plans were OK’d in March 2011 but the permit expired earlier this year; plans still call for expanding the take-out by adding in-house dining for 44 on the main level and upstairs in a second-story addition.
The food served in-house would be different than the current carry-out pizza and subs (which would continue), according to the filed proposal. The food for the in-house dining would be kabobs (chicken and beef) and rice as well as vegetarian dishes. No alcohol will be sold.

Original plans in 2011 called for 72 seats but after concerns voiced by the community about the potential for trash and/or traffic, that number was reduced to 44.
The proposed hours for dining and carry-out are:

- Mondays: 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
- Fridays, Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. (the owner had agreed to a 1 a.m. closing time in the approved 2011 permit)
- Sundays: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Expected hours of loading and unloading for commercial deliveries are listed as being from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a maximum of twice per day.
In 2011 the Lynhaven Citizens Association was not able to wholly support or oppose the proposal; the Del Ray Citizen Association opposed the plan for the following reasons:
1) Absent a position offered by the Lynhaven CA, DRCA opted to provide its position
2) Piecemeal redevelopment of the west side of Route 1 should be discouraged until the City
has a plan for the strip.
3) The divided parking that would require driving into Route 1 to access one half from the
other. Safety was cited as the chief concern.
4) The reduction in rear setback requirement from 25’ to 6’
The new plans call for closing or modifying entrances from Route 1/Jefferson Davis Highway.
