New Glass Recycling Bin Opens In Northeastern Alexandria
A fifth glass recycling bin has opened after the city ended curbside glass recycling in mid-January.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria residents wanting to recycle glass now have a fifth bin as an option. MOM's Organic Market at 3831 Mt. Vernon Avenue is the location of the new purple recycling bin.
The city ended curbside glass recycling on Jan. 15, citing increasing recycling costs and the lack of glass-sorting facilities in the region. Alexandria followed Fairfax County, Arlington County and Prince William County in ending glass recycling collections.
Glass must be taken to a purple bin in order to be recycled. Glass placed in recycling bins or trash for curbside collection will not be recycled.
