New Hilton Hotel in Alexandria Should Be Completed by December
No opening date set yet for new Hilton Garden Inn.

Surrounding business owners are excited to see how quickly a new six-story hotel is taking shape in Old Town, at the corner of Prince Street and Daingerfield Road. Down the street at popular Salon Amarti, 1322 Prince St., owner Sammy Amarti says he’s looking forward to any new business that might come his way from the new hotel.
The new hotel, a Hilton Garden Inn, will be located at 1620 Prince St. and is expected to be completed by December, by Clark Construction Group, but no opening date has been announced.
Owned by Carr City Centers, the 87,855 square-foot, 109-room facility will be operated by Hilton Garden Inn, according to Carr City Centers. The architect is Rust Orling Architecture of Alexandria, according to Clark Construction’s Web site. The value of the building contract is $17 million, the construction company notes on its Web site.

The hotel is located one block south of King Street Metro Station and within walking distance to the King Street entertainment district. The project is also near the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and Carlyle project which has more than 6 million square feet of offices, retail and residential.
The hotel will include one level of below-grade parking with 32 spaces that will be exclusively valet controlled. A loading bay is planned for the Daingerfield Road side of the building and will be deep enough to permit trucks to pull completely within the structure.

Clark demolished an existing parking lot and performed improvements to the surrounding streetscape. The site was formerly the longtime location of Alexandria Floral, a flower shop.
When complete, the hotel will include a boardroom, a sun deck and a “green” roof. The hotel is designed to achieve LEED® Silver certification.
Clark Construction has its headquarters in Bethesda and an office in Lorton; it also has offices around the country.
