Oakville/Route 1 Corridor Public Meeting Monday

Development will likely break ground in 2017 and will include retail, hotel, office space, townhomes, condos and apartments.

There is a public meeting on the Oakville/Route 1 Corridor development coming up Monday night at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St. in Alexandria. The meeting is set for 7-9 p.m.

The development sits along Jefferson Davis Highway and faces Potomac Yard.

The meeting is being called to review proposed recommendations for community benefits, transportation study, and the draft Vision Plan/Design Standards document.

The first phase of Oakville Triangle is expected to break ground in early 2017, Bethesda-based StonebridgeCarras tells Bisnow. The project is expected to include 400 rental units, 115 condos, 10 townhomes, 110,000 square feet of retail, a 130,000 square foot hotel and 120,000 square feet of office space.

Approvals are still needed from City Council, according to the article. The city has said it would like to see 60-70 affordable housing units, the article points out.
