Pothole Patrol: Alexandria To Step Up Repair Efforts

The city says more potholes are popping up this year than usual. Major repair efforts begin soon.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—With record numbers of potholes being reported to the City of Alexandria, crews will begin major efforts to fix city roads on Monday, March 25. In the last 10 weeks, the city received 619 reports of potholes. That's close to the total for the 2018 fiscal year: 774.

"We are seeing a record number of potholes this season, and we are taking action to address the problem," said City Manager Mark Jinks in a statement. "We ask residents and businesses to look out for and report potholes so we can repair them as soon as possible."

The city is devoting additional staff to work overtime to fix potholes within 72 hours of the city receiving a repair request. When the city's "Pothole Patrol" begins on March 25, the city expects potholes will be fixed within 48 of requests.
