Power Restored For Most Alexandria Residents
Most residents should have power restored by Monday evening and the rest by Tuesday evening.

At one point over 10,000 Alexandria residents lost power during the strong wind storm, but things are almost back to normal.
Just hundreds remain without power as of Monday morning, according to Dominion Energy. Most should get power back by 6 p.m.-11 p.m. Monday night and the rest by 6 p.m.-11 p.m. Tuesday night. The outages are affecting a small portion of residents in Del Ray, Old Town and West End. City services and public schools are back to normal operations.
According to WTOP, about a quarter of Dominion's customers, or nearly 700,000, had been impacted by the storm.

City workers have restored power to all intersections, but drivers should be aware a few could be in flash mode for the next few days. The city has a full crew working on the signals Monday. Over 50 signals had needed repairs after the storm. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts. Collections of debris from the storm could continue into this week. Residents should place tree limbs and other larger pieces of yard waste next to trash cans without blocking vehicles or pedestrians. Place smaller pieces in paper bags or containers with City-issued 'Yard Waste' stickers so crews can identify it. More information on how to properly prepare yard waste is available at alexandriava.gov/YardWaste.

The storm has also blown off debris like roofing material from houses. Construction materials including asphalt, brick, cement, ceramic, cinder block, concrete, drywall, marble, porcelain and slate cannot be collected. They may be brought to local solid waste disposal facilities such as the Alexandria Waste Recovery Facility (625 Burnside Place). For more information on recycling specific materials, see MWCOG Builder's Recycling Guide for local recycling facilities to use.
Metal items can be collected by special request for a free. See more information about collections for specific items at www.alexandriava.gov/RefuseCollection.
