Restaurant Inspections: Improper Hand Washing, Meat Handling

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Alexandria Health District officials recently inspected food preparation and storage in the Del Ray area. Full reports are available on the health department’s website.

The frequency of inspections depends on the type of food served and how it is prepared, according to the health department. A “critical violation” is one that “poses a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served.”

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” according to Virginia Department of Health’s website.
