Road Paving Coming Up Around Alexandria
Roads around Alexandria will undergo street paving from early August to the early fall.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Street paving is set to kick off Monday, Aug. 6 on roads around Alexandria.
The fiscal year 2019 road paving will take place from August through the early fall and again in spring 2019. The city says it is a "complete repaving and replacement of street asphalt, from curb to curb."
The city is responsible for maintaining 560 lane miles of streets, and it resurfaces about 50 miles each year. Volume of traffic, conditions of the road, costs and other factors determine streets that should be priorities streets for repaving.

Residents who live on streets set for resurfacing are notified by project signs or door hangers. Temporary “no parking” signs will also be posted before work begins.
Residents should expect noise from equipment and limited access to roads. Crews will allow driveway access to residents living on the streets. Paving usually takes place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., although some could be conducted overnight on heavily-traveled roads. Roads will be fully open after work concludes for overnight parking and traffic.
