'Serious Complaint' About SROs Investigated In Alexandria
Alexandria Police will not comment on the details of the investigation but say the high school's school resource officers are on leave.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A "serious complaint" against school resource officers at Alexandria City High School is under investigation, according to Alexandria Police.
Alexandria Police have placed school resource officers assigned to the high school on administrative leave pending the investigation results.

City government would not comment on the specifics of the investigation. An ACPS spokesperson told Patch in an email the school district will not comment.
"The Alexandria Police Department is conducting the investigation, in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, Alexandria City Public Schools will not comment further on this matter," read the ACPS statement.

School resource officers (SROs) have been a topic of debate as City Council eliminated funding for school resource officers in the fiscal year 2022 budget, later redirecting the funding to mental health positions. But after several incidents of violence on and off the high school campus, including the arrest of a student with a gun outside the school, a temporary SRO program was reinstated in October. City Council will continue discussions on an alternative school safety plan to replace SROs.
