Weather Postpones Street Festival in Del Ray
The first of the monthly street festivals will raise money to repair homes for the needy.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Del Ray has postponed the first date of the monthly First Thursdays street festival to April 13 due to inclement weather.
The event was originally planned to run Thursday, April 6. The monthly street festivals run April to September along Mount Vernon Avenue from 6 p.m. to dusk and are free to all. Pets are welcome.
Each month features a theme and local non-profit to raise money for. The theme for April 13's street festival is "Hats Along the Avenue," where participants are encouraged to wear hats. Participants can make their own hat with Upcycle Creative Reuse Center at Bellies and Babies Consignment Boutique (1913 Mt Vernon Ave). The event features live music, a photo booth and children's activities.

The event will collect donations for Rebuilding Together Alexandria, which repairs homes free of cost for community members in need, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, military veterans and families with children. Participants can donate painting supplies, hammers, screwdrivers, bits, drills, small step stools, shovels and rakes at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, at the intersection of Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues. The donations will help rebuild a home in Del Ray on National Rebuilding Day, April 29.
