Welcome to the Neighborhood: Notch 8 Holds Ribbon-Cutting
New mixed-use apartment building opens in Potomac Yard neighborhood, touts conveniences, luxe amenities, location.
Alexandria city officials, along with representatives from The JBG Companies, celebrated the grand opening Wednesday of Notch 8, JBG’s newest mixed-use apartment community in Potomac Yard in Alexandria, according to a news release from JBG.
The apartments are located at 2900 Main Line Blvd. in Alexandria. Zillow shows the apartment homes priced between $1,745 to $2,230.
“With the opening of Notch 8 at The Exchange, we are continuing to revitalize a former rail yard that was underutilized land and transform it into an attractive, in-fill urban district that is delivering new living, shopping and entertainment choices in Alexandria,” said Andrew VanHorn, a principal at The JBG Companies. “We are most grateful to the City of Alexandria for the vision and professionalism of its leaders and staff that have been so important to this success today.”

Thee upscale apartment homes include NEST thermostats, 9-foot ceilings, moveable kitchen islands and scenic Potomac River and D.C. city views – including the Washington Monument, according to the company.

With walkable entertainment, restaurants and shopping, Notch 8 points out that it is in the center of it all with a future Metro stop planned nearby. For current residents, both Crystal City and Braddock Road Metro stations are accessible via the Metroway bus rapid transit system that runs every six minutes during rush hour and has a stop directly outside Notch 8.
“We in Alexandria were happy to work together with JBG to bring new housing and retail options to Potomac Yard in order to further transform it into the metropolitan attraction it is poised to become,” Alexandria Mayor William Euille said. “Notch 8 is a welcome addition to the evolving community and to the City of Alexandria.”
Once one of the busiest rail yards in the Eastern United States, Potomac Yard will soon be home to 2 million square feet of office, hotel, retail and residential space.
