12 Health Violations At Falls Church Restaurant

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for City of Falls Church and county restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent inspections in August. Among these were 12 violations at DogFish Head Alehouse. A number of violations were corrected during the inspection.

Also included are restaurants with no violations. Reports are typically posted five to seven days after the inspections. Full reports are available on the health department’s website. Click on the violations to see each restaurant's results.

violations: macaroni noodles not properly cooled within three hours, foods cold holding at improper temperatures, cooked rice, onions not properly cooled within six hours, (all corrected) improper methods of cooling food, walk-in cooler not operating properly, ice bin surfaces in need of cleaning, openings in door could allow entry of pests, ice scoop in need of cleaning, cook line utensils stored in room temperature water

Fortune: 6249 Seven Corners Ctr, Falls Church, VA 22044, last inspection: Aug. 21

violations: employee washing hands in food prep sink without soap, employee drinking in area that could contaminate food, cigarette on ash tray in food storage area, foods cold holding in improper temperatures (all corrected), sanitizer concentration too low, ice bin surfaces in need of cleaning, openings in door that could allow entry of pests, pesticides stored in facility (all 12 violations not included)

Uptown Restaurant: 6400 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: Aug. 18

violations: marinara sauce and American cheese cold holding at improper temperatures, one prep cooler not operating properly
