2 Dead In Bailey's Crossroads Single-Vehicle Crash

A vehicle hit a tree in Bailey's Crossroads early Sunday, resulting in two fatalities.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, VA — Two people died as a result of a single-vehicle crash in Bailey's Crossroads early Sunday.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Carlin Springs Road, according to Fairfax County Police. Early investigations found the vehicle had been heading north on Carlin Springs Road approaching Columbia Pike when it crossed into the southbound lane, veered right, and hit a tree off the right side of the road.

The passenger, Maria Crowder, 29, of Maryland, died at the scene. The driver, Byron Hines, 28, of Maryland, was taken to a hospital and died later that morning.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, but debris from the crash damaged several unoccupied vehicles.

Police are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. Speed may have contributed to the crash.
