2 Dogs Die, Residents Displaced In West Falls Church Fire

An electrical malfunction with a refrigerator caused a fire at a West Falls Church home.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Residents were displaced and two dogs died in a fire at a West Falls Church home on Wednesday, May 15, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Around 8:59 a.m., firefighters responded to the 3100 block of Dashiell Road. Units found fire and smoke coming from the rear with some extension inside.

The residents were not home when the fire occurred, but two dogs were found dead inside the home. A neighbor found the fire and called 911. No people were injured.

Investigators say the fire started on the rear covered deck due to an electrical malfunction with a refrigerator.

The displaced residents are two adults and two children. They have accepted Red Cross assistance. Damages are estimated to be $143,750.
