59 Small Businesses, Nonprofits Receive Grant Funding In Falls Church
Two rounds of grant funding provided grants to 59 businesses and nonprofits to help with COVID-19 financial impacts.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — The City of Falls Church Economic Development Office and Economic Development Authority have awarded American Rescue Plan Act grant funding to 59 small businesses and nonprofits.
A total of $315,000 was awarded in two rounds to help with urgent expenses due to COVID-19 pandemic financial impacts. Businesses each received $5,000, except for four that received $10,000 total through two rounds.
Businesses and nonprofits had to meet several qualifications in the first round to receive grant funding, including being located in the city, having 50 or less employees, and gross receipts between $50,000 and $1,000,000. In the second round of funding, eligibility was expanded to businesses with gross receipts between $30,000 and $1,000,000 and in business on or before Jan. 1, 2019. There were 158 applications submitted during the two rounds of the grant program.

Businesses can use the grants for expenses related to COVID-19 financial impacts, such as pay for employees, rent or mortgage payments, vendor invoices and other business operating costs.
