84 Falls Church Small Businesses Receive Emergency Grants

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Falls Church Economic Development Authority is awarding grants to 84 city businesses as part of the Small Business COVID-19 Emergency Grant Program.

According to a city news release, 84 businesses were eligible for grants among the 106 applications. Each business will receive $2,000 to pay salaries, benefits, rent and other urgent operating expenses during the pandemic.

Applications for the emergency grants were open through 11:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15. Among the eligibility requirements were being located in the City of Falls Church for at least a year, having less than 50 employees, having gross receipts of $50,000 to $500,000, and being a business type affected by the governor's May 23 order.

A separate grant program in Fairfax County will provide $25 million to small businesses and nonprofits. The application process has not started but could become available in June.
