Alexandria Driver Charged In Bailey's Crossroads Pedestrian Crash
An October crash on Route 7 that killed a pedestrian led to a charge for an Alexandria driver.
BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, VA — The driver has been charged in a Bailey's Crossroads crash that killed a pedestrian in October.
After an investigation, Fairfax County Police obtained warrants charging Yaraliz Rivera Rosado, 26, of Alexandria, with felony hit-and-run. The charge relates to the Oct. 26 crash that killed Elise Ballard, 40, a pedestrian.
The crash happened around 9:58 p.m. Oct. 26 at Leesburg Pike and Carlin Springs Road. According to police, a 2017 Infiniti QX60 heading west on Leesburg Pike struck the pedestrian. Police had initially said the pedestrian was outside a crosswalk when crossing Leesburg Pike near Carlin Springs Road.

The driver had continued to a nearby parking lot and called police. Before police arrived, a second vehicle struck the pedestrian. Fire and rescue personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
On Friday, Rivera Rosado turned herself into the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held without bond.
