ICE Arrests Man In NoVA Wanted On Colorado Charges Involving A Child

ICE said officers arrested a 49-year-old man in Falls Church who is wanted in Colorado on felony charges involving a child.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A 49-year-old man wanted in Colorado on felony charges involving sexual offenses against a child was arrested Aug. 31 in Falls Church, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in release on Wednesday.

ICE identified the man as Jose Saul Canas-Guandique, a Salvadoran national. The agency said he faces charges of sexual assault on a child by a person of trust, solicitation of child prostitution and use of the internet to lure a child with intent to exploit.

Officers with ICE's Washington, D.C., field office took Canas-Guandique into custody. The release did not specify where in Falls Church the arrest occurred.

According to ICE, Glenwood Springs police in Colorado previously arrested Canas-Guandique on March 7, 2024. The release did not describe the circumstances of that arrest or explain how he came to be in Virginia.

ICE said Canas-Guandique lawfully entered the United States in December 2004 with permission to remain until June 2005 and stayed beyond that authorization.

The agency said it would work with Colorado authorities to ensure Canas-Guandique participates in the criminal justice process. He will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his immigration removal proceedings, according to the release.
