Assistance League Program Helps Feed Kids On Weekends
Several Local Groups Provide Enthusiastic Support for Assistance League's Children's Programs

Assistance League of Northern Virginia held another productive food-packing event in October to provide non-perishable food to elementary students. Member volunteers and Dominion Energy employees were joined by friends from Sandy Spring Bank, who returned to help with setting up and packing the items. Assistance League also welcomed Rebecca B. Hall and colleagues from RBH Global Wealth Partners who helped with packing and set up, and also made a generous contribution to the chapter for the purchase of new winter coats and jackets for local elementary school students. In addition, we greeted new friends from Global Children Foundation who came to help with packing. Silvia Park awarded us with a grant from the Foundation that we will use for our Weekend Food for Kids program.
Working together, the volunteers packed 1680 bags of food that were delivered that same day to 6 schools in Fairfax and Prince William Counties. Assistance League also provided grocery gift cards to a school in Alexandria. These monthly food-packings are always a lot of fun and the October event proved again how much can be accomplished when we work together.
