Bailey’s Crossroads Fire Starts In Bedroom Closet
Residents in a Bailey's Crossroads apartment building saw smoke coming from a nearby unit. The unit's fire alarms were not working.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Five residents of a Bailey's Crossroads apartment building are displaced due to a small fire on Saturday, July 29.
Around 3:30 p.m., Fairfax County, Arlington and Alexandria firefighters responded to the fire at Oakview Garden Apartments . The unit's residents were not home at the time of the fire when neighboring residents saw smoke coming out of the apartment. The fire alarms in the unit were not working.
Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which originated in a bedroom closet. Investigators say the fire started by materials that came into contact with an unattended open flame device. The two residents from the unit and three from another unit were displaced and are receiving Red Cross assistance. Damages are estimated at $20,000.
