Bailey's Crossroads Homicide Suspect Turns Himself In: Police

A suspect who allegedly shot a man in an apartment in Bailey's Crossroads has been arrested, according to Fairfax County Police.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, VA — The suspect in the Oct. 30 homicide at Skyline Towers Apartments in Bailey's Crossroads has been arrested, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police say Phil Asare Darkwah, 28, turned himself in, was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held without bond. He was charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felon in possession of a firearm.

The charges relate to a shooting in the 5500 block of Seminary Road, the location of Skyline Towers Apartments. According to police, three men had fled from an apartment where a man was found with fatal upper body gunshot wounds. Ahmed Hemoh, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire and rescue personnel.

Police say Darkwah was one of the three men seen fleeing and was identified as the suspect who allegedly shot Hemoh. Police had been searching for Darkwah after obtaining arrest warrants. Police do not believe the shooting was random but continued to investigate what led to the shooting.

The shooting prompted police to recommend residents shelter in place for approximately 30 minutes.
