WASHINGTON, DC — Bank of America donated $150,000 to the Capital Area Food Bank at an event in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, as part of the bank's commitment to assisting with hunger relief efforts in the D.C. area.

Since the start of the pandemic, Bank of America has provided more than $2.2 million in funding to organizations in the D.C. area in support of local hunger relief efforts, including more than $820,000 to the Capital Area Food Bank, a hunger-relief organization.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, hunger relief organizations in the D.C. area and across the country are facing ongoing challenges such as increased demand for their services and rising food prices. About one in 10 residents in the District of Columbia face hunger, including one in seven children, according to Feeding America.

Earlier this year, Bank of America announced it would make a $100 donation to local hunger relief organizations and food banks for each employee in the D.C. area who received a COVID-19 booster shot or vaccine and notified the bank before the end of January.

“[W]e’re incredibly grateful for the support that Bank of America and its associates have provided and the impact it will make,” Muthiah said.
