A Battle for the Soul of Islam
Republican Women of Clifton hosts Dr. Jasser, devout Muslim and noted human rights activist, on Islamism and theocratic regimes.
CLIFTON, VA, October 18, 2015 - The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) is pleased to welcome Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, MD as the keynote speaker for its October meeting. The event will take place Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station. The social half-hour will begin at 7 pm, presentation to follow at 7:30 pm.
Dr. Jasser will provide insight into the historical context of the cauldron in the Middle East that brewed ISIS and lay out the only path forward for US interests: the promotion of a “Liberty Doctrine” in the Middle East and North Africa. The Arab Awakening of 2011 presented the region with a major (once in a lifetime) opportunity at a transformation away from old Arabist military dictatorships toward liberty. Instead, this created a vacuum that is being filled by Islamist movements. Is there a way forward from here? Are Muslim majority nations destined toward theocracy? Is the United States stuck in the 20th century paradigm of choosing allies who are the lesser of two evils? Dr. Jasser will answer this and more.
Dr. Jasser is President and Founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, an American think tank built on the premise of advocating for the principles of the U.S. Constitution, liberty and freedom through the separation of mosque and state. A devout American Muslim, Jasser is a Commissioner on the congressionally appointed U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIFR). He is an activist for universal human rights and against the global movement of political Islam (Islamism) that holds Muslins around the world under the thumb of theocratic regimes.
