BB&T Bank Robbery Thwarted In Falls Church Area

Fairfax County Police found the suspect had attempted a similar bank robbery last week in the Falls Church area.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- An attempted robbery was thwarted within minutes Thursday at the 6120 Arlington Boulevard BB&T Bank in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, Fairfax County Police arrested a man that had attempted to rob the bank. The suspect had passed a note to employees demanding money but fled before receiving any cash. Officers spotted and arrested Montrell Richardson, 41, of Annandale nearby.

Police investigation determined the suspect had also attempted to rob a Capital One Bank nearby at 6367 Seven Corners Center last week. The suspect left without taking money in this incident as well. No one was injured and no weapons were implied in either incident.

The suspect was transported to the Adult Detention Center and charged with two counts of attempted robbery.
