Bird's Nest Ignites Gas Station Fire In Falls Church Area
A bird's nest near a lighting fixture started a fire at a Falls Church gas station in Fairfax County.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- A Sunoco gas station on Lee Highway in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County has closed due to a Friday fire. Fire investigators determined the fire started from a bird's nest being near a fluorescent light fixture.
Around 1 a.m.,units from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and Arlington County Fire Department responded to the fire. Units found the fire on the roof and quickly extinguished it. No injuries occurred.

A passerby had reported the fire, since the business had been closed at the time. The building did not have smoke detectors or fire suppression systems installed. Damages are approximately $60,000.
