Good day everybody,
Another week is in the books and the theme for the week was statements with the Orioles and the Nationals making them with their weekend series wins against division rivals. On a surprising note no NO Hitters last week! So lets get it started!
Surprising
1) The Orioles! Sweep the Sox in Boston and have the best record in baseball. WOW!
2) That Cole Hamels would openly admit that he threw at Bryce Harper. I get why you did it Cole, what I don't understand is why you would admit it?
3) It really surprises me that the Nationals team ERA is the lowest in baseball. With names like Zimmerman & Strasburg I should not be but the Nats' are pitching to a 2.59 ERA. Impressive
4) Speaking of those Nats' and their pitching ERA, how about their number five starting pitcher with a 1.59 ERA. Their young lefty is very impressive thus far.
5) The Twins having the worst record in baseball. Ron Gardenhire is a good Manager so I'm kind of surprised that this team is where they are currently. It's a shame that Joe Mauer can't pitch and play the outfield.
Not So Surprising
1) Albert Pujols FINALLY hit a home run! Did you really think that he wasn't going to hit a home run this year?
2) Ichiro hitting .300 (or slighly under it). I believe that 2011 was just a fluke for the best hitter in the past decade.
3) The Royals having the second worst record in baseball. How bad has the AL Central been so far, pretty bad.
4) After injuring himself is a freakish manor not surprising that Mariano Rivera has come and stated that he is coming back next year. Go for him and I hope everything works out.
5) Finally it's not surprising me that Bryce Harper been hitting (and being hit) the cover of the ball since being called. He's not going back to the minors the talent it to good.
Week 4 Power Rankings
1) Rangers - Big series coming up against the Angels this weekend.
2) Dodgers - The only team in the National League West with a record above .500
3) Nationals - Big series win against the Phillies this past weekend as the Nats attempted to take back their park from the Phillies fans. Well at least you won the victory on the field...
4) Rays - Pitching Pitching Pitching
5) Cardinals - Champs are leading their division with the Reds hot on their red tails
