Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is doing okay and enjoying the season. Before I start I want to congratulate Philip Humber for throwing the 21st perfect game in MLB history. Now let's get started!
Surprising
1) The Nationals have the best second best record in the NL and are ONLY averaging 24,000 people a game! COME ON NATS FAN, the Redskins can't play all year long!
2) David Ortiz finding the fountain of youth and is coming out the gates hitting the baseball.
3) Tim Lincecum after 4 starts having a 8.20 ERA. He did pitch better his last start but still only pitched 5 innings, thats not the stuff of an ace.
4) The Blue Jays being in first place (at least tied for it). It's only been 2 weeks but hey it's refreshing to see a team other than the Yanks & Sox in that spot.
5) The light hitting Atlanta Braves are currently the highest scoring team in the National League. CLEARLY my predictions blog motivated these guys.
Not So Surprising
1) The Kansas City Royals, with all that young talent are in last place and have the worst record in baseball. Some things never change.
2) Matt Kemp is currently the triple crown leader, I know it's only April but I'm still impressed with what he is doing.
3) Josh Hamilton. I know he is a risk with his personal issues but what a great talent he is.
4) The Mets coming back down to earth. Started out hot but have cooled down a lot like the weather in Washington DC lately.
5) The National League Central only have 1 team over .500. Come on Brewers, Reds, etc.
Week 2 Power Rankings
1) Nationals - Pitching wins games and the Nats have the best team ERA in baseball.
2) Dodgers - Matt Kemp thats all I gotta say about why they are second.
3) Rangers - Rank first in runs, batting average & slugging.
4) Yankees - Their middle of the line-up is starting to wake up and heat up
5) White Sox - Really good starting pitching and Adam Dunn playing well thus far.
With another week in the books, even with the season still only in April we can see what teams are going to be for real and who is not. I hope everyone is enjoying the season! Until next time...
