Car With Dog Inside Stolen In Seven Corners Area: Police

The owner left the car running with a dog inside when it was stolen, police say.

Fairfax County Police have charged a man after he reportedly stole a car with a dog inside on Saturday in Seven Corners, police say.

Around 1:56 p.m., police say a woman parked in the 6000 Block Arlington Boulevard and left it running with her dog inside. She left to run an errand and returned to find her car missing.

As an officer was taking a report, a bystander said someone parked the car and fled on foot. Police located the vehicle and a suspect using surveillance footage from businesses.

With that information, police arrested and charged Roger Thomas, 64, of Fall Church, with grand larceny. The incident happened as scorching temperatures swept through the area, but police say the dog ended up ok.
