Carjacking Attempt In Falls Church Leads To Arrest
An attempted carjacking involving a suspect with a crowbar was stopped in a parking garage.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — An attempted carjacking in a Falls Church parking garage was thwarted, leading to an arrest and charges.
The carjacking attempt happened on Aug. 28 in a parking garage in the 500 block of S. Washington Street. According to City of Falls Church Police, the adult victim was exiting a vehicle and was confronted by a suspect with a crowbar. When the suspect demanded the vehicle, the victim pushed the suspect away.
Although the suspect fled, responding officers and detectives found a backpack and crowbar on the scene. Police identified the suspect as Karl August Boehley, who was being held at the Arlington County Adult Detention Center awaiting transfer to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on unrelated charges. A warrant to charge Boehley with attempted carjacking was obtained through the Arlington County magistrate.

Amid the attempted carjacking, City of Falls Church Police urged residents to be alert in parking garages and lots, choose well-lit areas to park, be aware of surroundings, and lock their vehicles.
