Del. Marcus Simon Seeking Re-Election In Redrawn VA House District

Del. Marcus Simon, who represents Falls Church City and part of Fairfax County, will seek re-election in the redrawn district.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Del. Marcus Simon, a Democrat who represents Falls Church City and part of Fairfax County in the Virginia House of Delegates, will seek re-election in 2023. While he currently represents the 53rd House District, he is running for the seat in the redrawn 13th House District.

All Virginia House of Delegates, Senate and congressional districts had been redrawn as part of a mandated redistricting process after the 2020 U.S. Census. These new districts will take effect in early 2024 after the 2023 House of Delegates and Senate elections. Redrawn congressional districts take effect with new terms in 2023 after the 2022 midterm elections.

Simon announced his re-election bid in a Falls Church News-Press column outlining his priorities. First elected in 2013, Simon serves on the Public Safety; Communications, Technology and Innovation; Courts of Justice; and Finance committees in the House of Delegates.

The new 13th House District includes parts of the current 38th and 53rd House Districts, which are represented by Del. Kaye Kory (D-Fairfax) and Simon, respectively. The 13th District will cover Falls Church City and areas of Fairfax County like Idylwood, Pimmit Hills, West Falls Church, Lake Barcroft and part of Merrifield.

Simon's 53rd District includes Falls Church City and areas of Fairfax County like Idylwood, Pimmit Hills, West Falls Church and Merrifield. Kory's 38th District includes parts of Seven Corners, Lake Barcroft, Bailey's Crossroads, Annandale and Lincolnia.

If a primary election is called, it would be held on June 20, 2023. The general election will be on Nov. 7, 2023.
