Electrical Wires Spark Falls Church Fire

Eight residents are displaced after electrical wiring started a fire at a Falls Church home.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—It was an unfortunate start to the weekend when eight residents were displaced from a fire in their Falls Church home. Fire officials say electrical wiring in the basement started the fire at the 3000 block of Crane Drive.

Just before 6 p.m. on Friday, July 14, Fairfax County and Arlington County firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the two-story home's roof. Firefighters quickly put out the fire that spread to the first and second floors, but they were only able to extinguish the basement when a power company turned off the electric.

Four adults and a child were home, and they were able to safely leave after smelling smoke. (Sign up for real time alerts and a newsletter. iPhone users can download the Patch app in the App Store. Plus, like Falls Church Patch on Facebook.)
