Express Lanes Team Supports Local Pit Stop at Bike to Work Day 2015

Local bicyclists put a spin on their morning commute and participated in Bike to Work Day 2015 at the Merrifield W&OD Trail Pit Stop, sponsored by the 495 and 95 Express Lanes, on Friday, May 15. Affiliated with the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and Commuter Connections, Bike to Work Day is an annual event that supports the area’s bike commuters and promotes Virginia’s overall mission for sustainable transportation.

More than 150 area bicyclists stopped by the Merrifield W&OD Trail Pit Stop to enjoy free refreshments, bike tune-ups and giveaways from local Merrifield businesses including Gold’s Gym, Panda Express, ACE Physical Therapy, Orangetheory Fitness, Performance Bicycle and many more. Bicyclists also had the opportunity to learn more about the 495 and 95 Express Lanes for the days when they drive – instead of bike – to work.

Sponsors and area bicyclists who participated in Bike to Work Day 2015 help make Merrifield a more bicycle-friendly community and promote the benefits of alternative transportation methods in the Northern Virginia area.
