Fall Through Pond Ice Kills Falls Church Man In Haymarket
A Falls Church man died Christmas Eve when ice broke on a pond in Prince William County, according to police.

HAYMARKET, VA — A Falls Church man is dead after a fall through ice in a pond Christmas Eve in Haymarket, according to Prince William County Police.
Police and the fire department had responded to a pond in the 6000 block of Erinblair Loop around 10:04 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The victim and acquaintances had been on the ice when it broke, causing two men to fall into the water.
One 20-year-old man was able to get out of the water, according to police. The man was not able to locate the other man in the water and went to a nearby home to call police. Fire and rescue located the other man in the pond. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as Shahzada Zadran, 19, of Falls Church. The other man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police do not suspect foul play in the death. The victim's body was taken to the medical examiner to determine the cause of death. Police continue to investigate.
