Falls Church ALDI Slated For February Opening

ALDI will have a gift card giveaway for the first 100 customers.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—The Little City's first ALDI will open on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 155 Hillwood Avenue, Falls Church.

The opening day kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:50 a.m. and the Golden Ticket giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Customers can also enter a sweepstakes for a year's worth of produce.

The rapidly-expanding chain offers a twist on the traditional grocery shopping experience. Stores sell a streamlined selection of mainly exclusive brands with an emphasis on discount prices. Customers rent grocery carts for a quarter and bag their own groceries.

The Falls Church store's layout accommodates additional refrigeration space for fresh foods. Around 20 percent of the ALDI products are new as compared to last year.

"As part of our nationwide product refresh, our new Falls Church store offers customers even more of the options they want and love," said Jeff Baehr, a division vice president for ALDI. "Increasing our fresh food selection is just the latest example of how we listen to our shoppers and evolve to meet their needs."

Headquartered in Germany, ALDI has 1,800 U.S. stores in 35 states. The Falls Church location is part of a $3.4 billion investment to expand to 2,500 stores by the end of 2022.
