Falls Church Area Fire Displaces 4 People; None Injured

The cause of Wednesday night's fire on Shreve Road remains under investigation.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A fire just outside the City of Falls Church displaced four residents Wednesday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. There were no reported injuries.

Units from Fairfax and Arlington counties responded to a single-family home in the 7100 block of Shreve Road around 8:34 p.m. to find smoke showing from the roof. Crews quickly put out the fire on the first floor. All residents had safely evacuated after discovering the fire in the laundry and storage room.

Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze. The home had working smoke alarms.

Damages were estimated to be $37,500. The displaced residents have accepted Red Cross assistance.
