Falls Church Chooses Grand Marshals for Parade

Congratulations to Barry Buschow and Kathleen C. Buschow who have been named Grand Marshals of the 2015 City of Falls Church Memorial Day Parade. The Recreation and Parks Advisory Board chose the husband and wife team for their dedication to public service and making the City a better place to live. Mr. Buschow currently serves on the board of NOVA Parks (formerly Northern Virginia Parks Authority) as one of two representatives from the City, President of the Falls Church Lions Club, Corresponding Secretary for the Village Preservation and Improvement Society (VPIS), Secretary of the Falls Church Scout House Building Association, and member of the City’s Economic Development Authority. He served on the City’s Community Center Expansion Committee, Watershed Advisory Council, and Open Space Task Force. His honors include the 1999 Caroll V. Shreve Award for Meritorious Community Service from the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club Lion of the Year award (three times), and the 2014 Spirit of Falls Church award presented by VPIS.
Mrs. Buschow served as the City Clerk for more than 14 years, retiring in 2014. She is a member of VPIS and has been active in the Falls Church Sister’s Choice Quilters and the Falls Church chapter of Quilters Unlimited for more than 25 years. She previously served as Board Member and Treasurer of Falls Church Arts and President of the Virginia Municipal Clerks Association (VMCA). Her honors include being named 2008 Clerk of the Year by the VMCA.
