FALLS CHURCH, VA — On Monday, Falls Church City Council voted to extend deadlines for real estate, meal and transient occupancy tax and suspend enforcement of certain zoning regulations to assist businesses during the coronavirus crisis.

The deadline for the second real estate tax payment for fiscal year 2020 is moved from June 5 to July 6. The due date for the meals and transient occupancy taxes is moved from May 1 to June 1. In addition, seniors and individuals with disabilities have a new application deadline of June 15.

The city is temporarily waiving three zoning regulations as businesses adjust operations to the coronavirus situation. Businesses are allowed to use temporary signs and banners promoting carryout and curbside service without needing a permit. In addition, businesses can take orders from their parking lot or vicinity of the business entrance and may use assigned parking spaces for takeout service. Businesses should check the city's requirements for these allowances.
