Falls Church High Grad Attend's White House Summit
2015 grad Jackie Valles attended first lady's recent Beating the Odds summit at the White House.

Falls Church High 2015 graduate Jackie Valles attended First Lady Michelle Obama’s recent Beating the Odds summit at the White House, one of 130 students selected for the summit through a competitive process, according to Fairfax County Public Schools.
Valles participated in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program while an FCPS student. The summit was designed to share tools and strategies to help the students successfully transition to college, and to encourage summit attendees to focus on expanding educational resources for people like them.
Some of the students faced hurdles in getting to college, including financial concerns, a lack of resources, or physical challenges. Valles will enroll at the College of William and Mary this month. Contact event liaison Derek Steele at desteele@fcps.edu.
