Falls Church Invites Applications For Arts And History Program Grants
The City of Falls Church is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations that support the arts, culture, theater, and history.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The City of Falls Church is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations that support the arts, culture, theater and history. The application deadline is July 12, and funds must be used by May 16, 2023.
Applicants must be located within the City of Falls Church. They can request up to $5,000 in project grants from the city and up to an additional $4,500 matching funds provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
Operational grant funding cannot exceed 25 percent of the organization’s total budget of operational expenses. The budget amount is based on the nonprofit group’s actual expenses from the previous year.

Past arts, culture and history grants have supported the Tinner Hill Blues Festival, orchestral concert by Washington Sinfonietta, and creating an original play at Creative Cauldron.
After an initial review by the City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department to ensure eligibility, the application will be reviewed by the Arts and Humanities Grant Review Committee. The committee will submit a recommendation to the Recreation and Parks Department, which will then present the recommendation to the City Council for final approval in a public session.

The city will provide a one-hour virtual training session on Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m. for people who want to learn how to complete their project and operational grant applications. The virtual program will not cover the entire grant process, but will focus on common mistakes made by applicants.
