Falls Church High School Jaguar Athletes to Play in College
On Tuesday, five senior Jaguar athletes were added to the list of college-bound athletes.
Many love to play sports in the local leagues. Some enjoy the thrill of travel ball. A handful that tryout get to participate on their high school varsity teams. Only a small handful get to continue at the collegiate level—and the Falls Church High School Jaguars are doing just that.
On Tuesday, five senior Jaguar athletes were added to the list of college-bound athletes.
Katie Hulette—softball player—will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Catholic University. She has received an academic scholarship thanks to her 3.8 GPA, hard work through her AP and honors classes, and her talent on the field playing first and third base. While Katie has racked up honors in her district at the high school level, we look forward to seeing her continue her academic and athletic success on the college level.

Nick Santos—baseball player—has received an academic scholarship to cover 90 percent of his expenses at Capital University in Ohio thanks to his incredible work in the classroom which has earned him a 4.25 GPA. A middle infielder for the Jaguars, Nick was recruited as a utility player for the Crusaders where his speed around the bases and abilities as a switch hitter will be used.
David Mathis—baseball player—is moving on to Shenandoah University where he will major in accounting and continue playing as a utility player for the Hornets. Known as a “beast in the cage,” this switch hitter is a powerful presence in the batter’s box and looks to continue his offensive presence as he drives in RBI’s at the college level.

Erin Nunan—track and field and cross country—has been accepted to Arkansas State where she will be studying Animal Science and will continue her dynamic athletic success. Erin has been a standout in both long distance runs and distance medley races in which has set school records. While in high school, Erin has been a state qualifier in the 4 x 8 and 1000m. She was the Conference 13 Champion for the 1000m. Her best in the half mile was 2:20, putting her on course to break the school record this spring. Between her academic success (maintaining over a 3.9 GPA and qualifying for a Beyond Borders scholarship program), her volunteer work in the community with the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation, and her athletic talent, Arkansas is excited to be able to call her a future Red Wolf.
Emily Grabauskas—track and field and cross country—is going on to Denison University in Ohio. Emily too has an incredible school record in distance medley races and is on track to break additional school records this spring. Her mile time (5:20) is just two seconds shy of setting a new record at FCHS. Her outstanding abilities also got her qualified for the 5A State Track Meet. Emily will be majoring in education and has received a $22,000 merit scholarship thanks to her academic efforts which can be seen by her 4.0+ GPA.
Falls Church High school is extremely proud of these student-athletes for both their performance in the athletic arenas as well as their leadership and academic success in the classroom.
