FALLS CHURCH, VA — Patrons of Falls Church's library will get to enjoy extra time as hours are expanded.

Weekday hours will remain 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.

The additional hours were possible through an additional $40,000 in the latest City of Falls Church budget for library staffing. Another $60,000 requested by the library's board could have funded an additional hour on Saturdays and Sundays, but that extra amount wasn't included in budget contingency funds.

The library had reduced hours in March 2022 amid staffing shortages and rising costs, the Falls Church News Press reported. When the library reopened after its expansion project in September 2021, hours had been 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
