Falls Church Man Scores $4 Million In Lottery

He got so much more than orange juice on his morning grocery store stop.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—A Falls Church man won a $4 million top prize in the Virginia lottery. His reaction? Keep going to work.

Michael Kraemer had stopped at the 6118 Arlington Boulevard Safeway to pick up some orange juice. He decided to play the Hot Millions Multiplier and discovered he got the top prize.

Initially Kraemer didn't tell anyone about his win and drove off to work. Now he's planning to use the winnings toward home improvements.

His prize was a choice between $4 million over 30 years or the cash option of nearly $2.25 million before taxes. He selected the cash option. The Safeway also receives a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Kraemer is the final player to score the top $4 million prize. The game has ended since the last top prize was claimed. The odds of winning the top prize in this game were 1 in 1,305,600. Prizes ranged from $20 to $4 million, and the odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.
