Falls Church Mardi Gras Parade Moved Inside Due To Rain

The second annual Mardi Gras Parade will be an inside event due to expected rainy weather.

Update: Due to expected rain, the parade will be cancelled and changed to an inside event at Clare & Don's Beach Shack. Come out for King Cake, beads and live music by Magnolia Blue at 5 p.m.)

FALLS CHURCH, VA—After seeing impressive turnout in its inaugural year, the Mardi Gras Parade is returning to Falls Church this upcoming weekend. The owners of Clare & Don's Beach Shack are hosting the second annual parade Sunday, Feb. 11 from 5 p.m.-6 p.m.

The parade will follow a short route on Park Avenue, starting at City Hall (300 Park Avenue) and ending at Clare & Don's Beach Shack (130 North Washington Street). Parade goers can enjoy floats and live music, get some colorful beads and enjoy Mardi Gras treats and more live music at the restaurant after the parade ends.

The parade drew round 1,800 people last year, according to the Falls Church News-Press. The newspaper reports that a number of businesses and organizations will have floats:

  • Dogwood Tavern
  • Mad Fox Brewing Company
  • Cafe Kindred
  • Pure Barre
  • Rock Star Realty
  • Lost Dog and Cat Rescue
  • Foxcroft Design
  • Growing Smiles Dentistry
  • Local Market
  • Cyclebar
  • Sislers Stone (live music float with Magnolia Blue)
  • Del. Marcus Simon
  • A neighborhood group from Arlington

Falls Church Police say roadblocks could be in place from 4:45 p.m. to no later than 6 p.m. Residents will have access to their homes, but drivers should expect delays. The roadblocks will happen at:

  • Park Ave. at the entrance of the City Hall parking lot
  • Little Falls at Park Ave.
  • Little Falls at Great Falls St.
  • N. Maple south of Park Ave.
  • N. Maple north of Park Ave.
  • N. Washington St. at Great Falls St. (both directions)
  • N. Washington St. at Broad St. (northbound)
