Falls Church Memorial Day Parade And Festival Returns With All-Day Festivities

The Memorial Day Parade and Festival returns for the 41st year, bringing a Fun Run, Memorial Day ceremony, vendors and more.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — One of Falls Church's biggest events of the year will return on Memorial Day weekend for a 41st year. The Falls Church Memorial Day Parade and Festival is scheduled for Monday, May 29.

While the highlight is the parade, the event features all-day festivities at City Hall and Community Center grounds, 300 Park Avenue. The parade at 2 p.m. will be preceded by a 3K Fun Run at Great Falls Street and Little Falls Street at 9 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Memorial Day Ceremony and 12:30 p.m. performance by the Falls Church Concert Band. A festival with civic vendors, merchants, crafters and food vendors, as well as live music and kids entertainment will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The parade will be led by grand marshal Rebecca Tax, the co-owner of Clare and Don's Beach Shack and Lazy Mike's. She was chosen for her involvement with Falls Church City Public Schools and Falls Church Homeless Shelter, as well as fundraising for local organizations and other community support.

The parade runs along Park Avenue between West Street and Little Falls Street and will prompt various road closures on May 29. Park Avenue will be closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. between N. Maple Avenue and N. Virginia Avenue, except for limited vendor vehicles. Little Falls Street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Park Avenue and Great Falls Street.

Portions of streets will be closed for the 9 a.m. Fun Run, including Little Falls Street, Great Falls Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, Fulton Avenue, N. Oak Street, Lincoln Avenue, N. West Street and Park Avenue.

Parade and festival attendees are encouraged to park in the Kaiser Permanente garage (N. Washington Street and Park Avenue) and the George Mason Square garage (103 W. Broad St.).
