Falls Church Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal Nominations Open
The city is seeking a grand marshal for the 38th annual Memorial Day Parade.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—The 38th annual Falls Church Memorial Day Parade and Festival will be held on Monday, May 27, and the city is seeking a grand marshal to lead it.
The grand marshal is tasked with presiding over the parade, one of the Little City's largest events of the year. Nominees "should have made exceptional, outstanding, distinguished, sustained or unique contributions to the City of Falls Church."
Last year's grand marshal was Midge Wang, founder of the Victorian Society of Falls Church and member of the Friends of Cherry Hill Farmhouse. She was recognized for preserving and educating the public about historical properties, including Cherry Hill Farmhouse.

Other past grand marshals have included Barb Cram (2017), Kathy Hilayko (2016), Kathy and Barry Buschow (2015), Sergeant Steve Rau (2014), Janet Haines and Audrey Luthman (2013), Harry Shovlin (2012), Howard Herman (2011), Edna Frady (2010), and Jessie Thackrey (2009).
Nominations for grand marshal are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 1. Send nominations to Scarlett Williams in the Recreation and Parks Department at sawilliams@fallschurchva.gov.

Parade details will be announced in the spring. Last year's parade and festival drew more than 12,000 people.
