FALLS CHURCH, VA — A synthetic turf field is opening at a park in the City of Falls Church.

The grass field was converted to a synthetic surface at Larry Graves Park, 308 Hillwood Avenue. Funded by the City of Falls Church, the Fairfax County Park Authority staff designed and managed installation under an agreement with the city. The project cost was $1 million.

Fairfax County stated in a news release the field installation is part of an effort to address a growing need for rectangular fields and field shortage in the region. The field is striped to serve as two U-10 fields, four U-8 soccer fields, or a women’s lacrosse field. The project also added a storm drainage piping system, concrete perimeter curb, sod, and an enhanced landscape buffer between the field and residential developments.
